بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum,

Tonight was an interesting night. Had a lot to think about. Especially with the last ten nights of Ramadan coming, there is a lot on my mind. Wrote this outside while sitting on the grass. This one is dedicated to a friend who has a nickname that involves, “money.”😄

We are Illuminated

Embers flicker on melting paraffin,

The night glows and time begins to thin.

Stars move ever so silently.

Bright cosmic dust blows gently.

Memories rain of all the places I have been.

Suddenly my eyes open.

The Paper is blotted by The Pen.

Everything comes into focus.

Divine Light shined and woke us.

We are Illuminated.

Fearful flames flicker in a glass lamp post.

An unseen illness needs to be dosed.

Comets bullet by overhead.

The moon shined and the sky bled

With thoughts and recollections I regret the most.

Suddenly my eyes open.

The Paper is blotted by The Pen.

Everything comes into focus.

Divine Light flooded and soaked us.

We are Illuminated.

The lustrous evening dew soaks my pants’ hem.

Night softens and dimensions glisten.

Cool twilight wind embraces me.

Rustling branches of trees

Remind me of desperate thoughts I must condemn.

Suddenly my eyes open.

The Paper is blotted by The Pen.

Everything comes into focus.

Divine Light lit the path and guides us.

We are Illuminated.

Emotions start to depress—

Our thoughts begin to digress—

Fear, regret; we all obsess—

In guilt do we dare confess—

Our minds, feelings truly oppress—

All thoughts start to coalesce—

Melancholy, more or less,

To us, we really transgress.

But then Divine Light begins to fluoresce.

Suddenly my eyes open.

My soul begins to convalesce and reopen.

Everything comes into focus.

Divine Light blinds everything into refocus.

We are Illuminated.

We are Illuminated.

We are Illuminated.
