George Orwell Quotes

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum,

I am in a writer’s crisis, so I was thinking about talking to some of my favorite Islamic scholars and literary authors. My Imam Al Ghazali quote post is taking foever, so I thought I’ll start with George Orwell, the author of one of my favorite books, 1984. I also love Animal Farm, but 1984 just calls to my heart. Especially the last third of the book. Anyway, some quotes by George Orwell (some from books, some he actually said):

“But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.

Early in life I had noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper.

Men can only be happy when they do not assume that the object of life is happiness.”

The atom bombs are piling up in the factories, the police are prowling through the cities, the lies are streaming from the loudspeakers, but the earth is still going round the sun.

“Advertising is the rattling of a stick inside a swill bucket.”

“Sanity is not statistical.” -1984

(I’ll do a 1984 section later. Lol)

THIS IS MY 101st POST! OMG! Reference to room 101 in 1984. LOL
