1984 and my life *Updated: Oct. 25th*

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

“And when memory failed and written records were falsified—when that happened, the claim of the Party to have improved the conditions of human life had got to be accepted, because there did not exist, and never again could exist, any standard against which it could be tested.” -1984

‘It is like taking out a splinter—this INCREDIBLY HUGE splinter….’

“Sometimes it is when we learn to give everything up to realize what exactly what we had all along.” –Leona Foley, Locke and Key

Dearest readers,

I hope I have not hurt you in any way and I pray for the best for you and me.

My Poems: Holy Poison

Posted in Poetry at 4:58 pm by faith786

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum,

This has undergone three edits, it may go through couple more, but I do think this is a masterpiece in some senses than others. If anything, style. I would like to ask you, the reader, to read it couple times before trying to get it.

Holy Poison

Voices pouring down my throat,

heatbeats trying to stay afloat,

Black whispers dripping off your coat,

vibrations of poison, we must take note. Read the rest of this entry »

My Poems: Forbidden Hope (Tentative title)

Posted in Poetry at 12:12 am by faith786

Assalamu Alaikum,

Another message to an older secret friend. This is not a common form of poetry, and I definitely butchered it, but this is also a first draft. Maybe I’ll clean my blog up once things get better in my life.

Forbidden Hope (Tentative Title)

How much longer until we sink?

How much longer until we reach the brink?

How much longer until we find the missing link?

How much longer will we stare at spilled ink?

1984 and Brave New World

Posted in Knowledge at 6:46 pm by faith786

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Assalamu Alaikum,

I love 1984 and Brave New World (BNW). I love how both address how the government uses different means to control people. I love the telescreens, the microphones, the soma (BNW), the propaganda, the select use of words, the idea that at some point, a person’s tale becomes the government and the media’s property and what you thought was truth was really something else. Even after finishing the book I wondered if the truth will ever be revealed. No one has an opinion. No one ever had a say. Poor Winston, poor weird guy that hung him self because of all the lies (BNW) and I never thought that Orwell or Huxley can be so spot on on certain things….

They are very good books, especially when dealing with truth and lies and whether either of them are important. In 1984 the government used lies to control people or get a certain response that would better help the people serve the Party. In Brave New World, the government used consumerism and attention to brainwash people. No one ever thought they were brainwashed, but only Winston and the guy who hung himself knew….

Their stories were never truly revealed by the end of the book–everyone was in the hype and moved on. Too bad truth never really had a chance against the propaganda and the government. The latter just had too much power.

Very good books, I must admit. Too good perhaps for anyone to truly comprehend. But I just can’t get over how Orwell thought of the microphones and the telescreens to look over people. Reminds me of stuff that the government does in this society to people.

Assalamu Alaikum,

I have a mini poem (that was never completed) for an older secret friend. If I told you who she was, Sarah might go crazy. (No, it is not you, Sarah–you are not a SECRET friend….)

We never said hello or good bye. Read the rest of this entry »
